Who might be able to join this trial:

For healthy volunteers (no lung cancer):

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You can comfortably hold your breath for 10 to 12 seconds
  • You have no history of lung conditions (such as asthma, COPD, or lung cancer)
  • You are able to have an MRI scan

For lung cancer patients:

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You have been diagnosed with lung cancer confirmed by a biopsy
  • You are receiving external beam radiation therapy (using photon or proton technology) as part of your treatment
  • You are able to have an MRI scan
  • You can comfortably hold your breath for 10 to 12 seconds
  • You are receiving follow-up care at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
  • If you are able to have children, you agree to use an approved form of birth control throughout the study (confirm with trial site for the full list of accepted methods)
  • You are able to understand and willing to sign a consent form

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are unable to attend follow-up appointments at MD Anderson Cancer Center
  • You are unwilling or unable to sign a consent form
  • Your cancer has come back after treatment, or your doctor estimates you have less than 6 months to live at the time of joining
  • You have severe claustrophobia that would prevent you from having an MRI scan
  • You currently have an active lung infection (confirm with trial site)
  • You are pregnant
  • You are under 18 years of age
