Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have had head and neck cancer in the past, but currently have no active cancer.
- You previously received radiation therapy to one or both sides of your neck, with a dose of 30 Gray (Gy) or higher.
- You have developed at least moderate swelling (lymphedema) or tissue tightening (fibrosis) in the neck area, starting more than 6 months after your radiation treatment ended.
- Your kidneys are working at a certain level — specifically, your kidney filtration rate is below 30mL/min (confirm with trial site).
- You are not pregnant, or you are past menopause, or you are male.
- You are able to have an MRI scan, or your doctor determines the MRI portion may not be required for you.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have active liver disease, cirrhosis, or a current problem with alcohol use.
- You have a history of a muscle-wasting condition called myopathy or rhabdomyolysis.
- You have a history of a heart attack or serious heart/coronary artery disease.
- You are currently pregnant (or potentially able to become pregnant — confirm with trial site).
- You have a history of diabetes.
- You have a known allergy or sensitivity to statin medications (HMG Co-A reductase inhibitors) or to substances like caffeine, theophylline, or theobromine.
- You have any reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan (though this may be optional — confirm with trial site).
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving an experimental treatment.
- You have had allergic reactions to medications that are chemically similar to the drugs used in this study (confirm with trial site).
