Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 70 and 85 years old and live in your own home (not a nursing home)
- You have been diagnosed with a specific type of older-adult bipolar disorder (types 1, 2, or 3, assessed using standard diagnostic guidelines called DSM-5)
- Your bipolar disorder has been stable — meaning no major depressive episode or hypomanic episode in the last 6 months
- You are being seen and treated as an outpatient (not in a hospital)
- You are able to walk 4 meters (about 13 feet) in 4 seconds or less
- You are covered by a social security or health insurance scheme
- You have freely agreed to take part and signed a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with unipolar depression (including recurrent unipolar depression, which is different from bipolar disorder)
- You have a substance use disorder according to DSM-5 guidelines (note: dependence on sleeping tablets such as benzodiazepines or z-drugs is accepted)
- You have been diagnosed with a serious memory or thinking condition, such as significant dementia that affects your ability to carry out daily tasks
- You have a known history of a degenerative brain condition such as Alzheimer's disease, Lewy body disease, frontotemporal dementia, corticobasal degeneration, supranuclear palsy, or epilepsy
- You have a known diagnosis of Parkinson's disease
- You have a history of stroke
- You have severe Parkinson's-like movement difficulties (confirm with trial site)
- You cannot have an MRI scan — for example, because you have certain metal implants in your body or you have severe claustrophobia
- You are under a legal protection order, such as guardianship or curatorship, or you are currently deprived of your liberty
- You are currently admitted to a hospital at the time of joining the study
