Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have been diagnosed with PTSD, or who have a partial form of PTSD that includes at least 3 out of 4 symptoms, one of which must be hyperarousal (a state of being constantly on high alert — confirm with trial site if unsure whether this applies)
- People who are able to move from sitting to standing on their own, without help from another person
- People who are able to attend daily, in-person therapy sessions for two weeks at either The Ohio State University or Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) Medical Center
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a heart condition (such as an irregular heartbeat) or who have a pacemaker
- People who have a skin allergy that would prevent wearing an adhesive patch or sensor for up to 2 hours at a time
- People who do not have enough English fluency to fully take part in talk therapy sessions
- People who use hearing aids
- People who currently have, or have previously had, tinnitus (a persistent ringing, buzzing, or other noise in the ears that has no external source)
- People who have had a severe traumatic brain injury
- People who are going through a major ongoing stressor that the research team believes could increase the risk of harm or a poor outcome — for example, undergoing a disability evaluation, a military medical discharge review, or facing serious legal or administrative action
- People who are currently unable to go through the consent process due to an acute medical or mental health condition, such as intoxication, a manic episode, or psychosis
