Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older at the time of signing the consent form
- People whose general health and ability to carry out daily activities meets a specific standard (rated 0 or 1 on a scale used by doctors to measure this)
- People who have been confirmed through a tissue sample to have a specific type of lung cancer (non-small cell lung cancer, stage II to IIIB, using a standard staging system)
- People whose tumor is 5 cm or smaller in size

- People whose heart and lung function is strong enough to support major surgery
- People whose cancer is suitable for a freezing-based treatment (cryoablation) and a standard type of chemotherapy involving platinum-based drugs
- People whose blood counts and organ function meet required levels, based on lab tests done within 14 days before joining the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have already received any treatment for their current lung cancer, including chemotherapy or radiation therapy
- People diagnosed with a specific subtype of lung cancer called large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC)
- People known to have certain gene changes (EGFR mutations or ALK translocations) in their cancer — for non-squamous types of lung cancer, these gene results must be confirmed before joining; for squamous types, testing may not be required if results are unknown (confirm with trial site)
- People whose cancer cannot be surgically removed, or who have stage IV (spread) disease — people with certain lymph node involvement seen on a scan may need additional testing to confirm their stage before eligibility can be determined
- People with a history of a lung condition involving scarring or inflammation of lung tissue (such as interstitial lung disease or uncontrolled pulmonary fibrosis)
- People with serious ongoing or active infections that require antibiotic or antimicrobial treatment, including tuberculosis
- People who were hospitalised for a serious infection within the 4 weeks before joining, or who received systemic antibiotic treatment within the 2 weeks before joining
- People with an active autoimmune disease or a history of recurring autoimmune disease — some well-controlled conditions may be exceptions (confirm with trial site)
- People who have used corticosteroids or immune-suppressing medications within the 14 days before joining, except for certain limited uses such as topical or short-term applications (confirm with trial site)
