Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who have a complex kidney cyst (classified as Bosniak category II or higher)
- People who are already scheduled to have surgery to remove a kidney mass (either partial or full removal of the kidney, using open, keyhole, or robotic surgery)
- People who are expected to live for at least 3 months or more
- People who are generally able to carry out basic daily activities, or whose ability to do so is only mildly limited (based on a standard medical scale called ECOG, scored 0–2) (confirm with trial site)
- People who have provided written agreement to take part in the trial
- People who, in the opinion of the trial team, are willing and able to follow the study procedures
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been taking certain targeted cancer medicines known as VEGF TKIs — such as sunitinib, sorafenib, cabozantinib, pazopanib, or lenvatinib — within one week before the trial's special scan. A one-week break from these medicines before the scan is required
- People who have another medical condition that would make surgery unsafe or unsuitable for them
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who experience severe claustrophobia (extreme fear of enclosed spaces, which may affect the ability to undergo the scanning procedure)
