Who might be able to join this trial:

• Women who have gone through menopause, meaning their periods stopped at least 12 months ago
• Women between 50 and 60 years old
• Women with a body mass index (BMI) — a measure of body weight relative to height — below 30
• Women with a vitamin D level that is low but not severely deficient (specifically between 30 and 50 nmol, which doctors call "insufficiency")
• Women whose bone density scan (called a DEXA scan) shows mildly to moderately low bone density, known as osteopenia (a T-score between -1.1 and -2.4)
• Women who are able to walk around on their own without assistance
• Women who have a mostly inactive, low-activity daily lifestyle

Who may not be able to join:

• Women with thyroid, kidney, or liver problems
• Women with heart or blood vessel disease, severe anaemia, or poorly controlled diabetes
• Women who have had chest surgery, have a chronic lung condition (such as COPD), or have been diagnosed with cancer
• Women with kidney failure, a history of heart attack, a muscle weakness condition called myasthenia gravis, or an overactive thyroid
• Women who have a bleeding condition, an active viral illness, active tuberculosis, a mental health disorder, or who use a pacemaker
• Women with bone, muscle, or joint disorders
• Women who have taken corticosteroid medications (a type of anti-inflammatory drug) within the 6 months before the study begins
