Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with or are suspected to have endometriosis and are scheduled for surgery to treat it at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital in Switzerland
- People aged 18 or older
- People whose overall health falls within a low-to-moderate risk category for surgery (known as ASA physical status 1–3, which covers generally healthy people through to those with some serious but stable health conditions — confirm with trial site if unsure which category applies)
- People who have given written consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age
- People whose overall health is considered very high risk for surgery (ASA physical status 4 or above)
- People who have a significant heart rhythm problem called a high-grade atrioventricular block and do not have a pacemaker
- People with severely low blood volume or an unusually slow heart rate
- People with blood pressure that is not under control, whether too high or too low
- People with liver disease
- People with a known condition called malignant hyperthermia, which is a serious reaction to certain anaesthetic medications
- People with an unstable heart condition or severe heart failure (classified as worse than NYHA stage III — confirm with trial site)
- People who have had a heart attack in the 30 days before surgery
- People with raised pressure inside the skull or inside the eyes
- People with reduced nerve activity in the peripheral nervous system, or a known allergy or sensitivity to ketamine, propofol, or any of their ingredients
- People who are pregnant
- People who have declined to participate or have not given consent
