Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with bladder cancer at a specific stage (T2 to T4a, or T1 with some lymph node involvement, but not spread to distant parts of the body), and your cancer is a type called transitional or mixed transitional cell cancer (confirm with trial site)
• You are planning to have your bladder surgically removed as part of your treatment
• You have not previously received chemotherapy or immunotherapy (drugs that use your immune system to fight cancer) for muscle-invasive bladder cancer
• Your general health and ability to carry out daily activities is good or fairly good (rated 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale)
• You are expected to live for at least 12 weeks from the time you start the trial treatment

Who may not be able to join:

• Your cancer has spread significantly to lymph nodes (at a higher level) or to other parts of the body
• Your tumour cannot be surgically removed because it is stuck to the wall of the pelvis
• You have previously received certain immune-boosting cancer treatments, such as checkpoint inhibitor drugs (e.g. anti-PD-1, anti-PD-L1, or anti-CTLA-4 therapies), with the exception of a bladder treatment called BCG
• You are currently taking, or have recently taken (within the last 14 days), medicines that suppress your immune system
• You are taking any other medication that is known to be unsafe to combine with the chemotherapy used in this trial (confirm with trial site)
• You have another serious illness that is not well controlled
