Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate intellectual disability
- People between 18 and 35 years of age
- People with a BMI over 24.9 and a body weight under 350 pounds
- People who can follow instructions, express their preferences (such as food choices), and communicate through spoken language (for example, asking for more food or help with preparing a meal)
- People who live at home with a parent or guardian, or in a supported living setting with a caregiver who helps with food shopping, meal planning, and meal preparation — and where that caregiver agrees to take part in the study as a partner

Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to take part in physical activity
- People who have insulin-dependent diabetes
- People who have taken part in a weight management program (including diet, physical activity, or medication-based programs) in the past 6 months
- People who have been diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome
- People who have been pregnant in the past 6 months, are currently breastfeeding, or are planning to become pregnant in the next 24 months
- People whose primary care doctor has determined they have a serious medical condition, such as cancer, a recent heart attack, stroke, or angioplasty
- People who are not willing to be randomly assigned to a study group
- People who are unable to attend small group, in-person sessions
- People who use a wheelchair or powered chair as their main way of getting around
