Who might be able to join this trial:

  • The person must be willing to give verbal consent to take part in the study.
  • The person must be willing and able to follow the study procedures, as judged by the study team.

  • For patients: The person must have a new diagnosis (within the last 6 months) of either localised prostate cancer confirmed by biopsy, or a kidney mass of 7 cm or smaller that is suspected to be cancer based on imaging scans. Kidney masses included are solid masses or certain complex cystic masses (Bosniak III or IV).
  • For doctors: The person must be a practicing urologist in North Carolina at UNC Health, Novant Health, or an affiliated site, who sees patients with suspected or confirmed prostate or kidney cancer.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who do not speak English.
  • People who are unwilling or unable to complete the consent process.
  • For patients: People whose cancer has been found to have spread beyond the local area, which may include a PSA level above 50 ng/ml, imaging suggesting distant spread, lymph node involvement, a kidney mass larger than 7 cm, or a mass that is growing into surrounding structures or blood vessels.
  • For patients: People whose prostate or kidney cancer diagnosis was made more than 6 months before the date of consent.
