Who might be able to join this trial:
For patients:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have normal vision and hearing, or vision and hearing that is fully corrected (for example, with glasses or hearing aids)
- People who are able to walk, including with the help of a cane or crutch
- People who can read and understand English well enough to complete questionnaires
- People who are scheduled to receive chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment for head and neck cancer
- People who have given written consent to take part in the study
For caregivers:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have normal vision and hearing, or vision and hearing that is fully corrected
- People who can read and understand English well enough to complete questionnaires
- People who have been identified by the patient as someone who knows the patient well and is involved in their medical care
- People who have given written consent to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
For patients:
- People who work directly or indirectly under the supervision of the lead researcher or study team
- People who are direct members of the study team
- People who are unable to complete the study surveys
- People with a serious mental illness
- People who have previously received treatment for head and neck cancer
- People with a history of treatment with antidepressants, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or long-term pain lasting more than 3 months
- People with cancer in or around the eyes or ears, or who have vision, hearing, or cognitive impairment
For caregivers:
- People who work directly or indirectly under the supervision of the lead researcher or study team
- People who are direct members of the study team
- People who are unable to complete the study surveys
- People with a serious mental illness
- People with a history of treatment with antidepressants, substance abuse, or PTSD
