Who might be able to join this trial:
- You or your child has been officially diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)
- The child is between 6 and 18 years old
- The child reports pain that significantly interferes with daily life, based on scores above a set threshold on a standard pain questionnaire (parents answer on behalf of children aged 6–7; children aged 8 and older answer for themselves)
- The child and/or family speaks enough Dutch or English to complete the study questionnaires
Who may not be able to join:
- The child has already had a successful stem cell transplant
- The young person is currently pregnant
- There are ongoing safety concerns in the home or environment (for example, current domestic violence) that could get in the way of taking part in psychological therapy
- The child has a serious current medical or mental health condition — such as psychosis, substance dependence, severe self-harm, or immediate risk of suicide — that requires urgent treatment
- The child is currently receiving psychological or trauma therapy from another therapist at the same time as this trial
- The child is estimated to have an IQ below 80, based on medical records or information from school or educational services (confirm with trial site)
