Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children between 3 and 17 years of age
- Children who are currently receiving ongoing dialysis treatment (hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration, or peritoneal dialysis)
- Children whose treating doctor has decided to start them on a medication called cinacalcet, in line with 2019 European medical guidelines
- Children with a normal heart rhythm result on an electrocardiogram (ECG) test
- Children with a total blood calcium level above 2.40 mmol/L
- Children with a haemoglobin (red blood cell) level above 8 g/dL
- Children whose parents or legal guardians have not objected to participation
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who weigh less than 12 kilograms
- People who are currently held under a court or government-ordered restriction of liberty
- People who are currently receiving psychiatric care
- People who are staying in a health or social care facility for a reason other than taking part in research
- People who are not covered by a social security or equivalent health insurance scheme
- People who are currently within an exclusion period from another interventional research study
- Children who have already received cinacalcet within the 3 months before joining the trial
