Who might be able to join this trial:

- People who have a planned (non-emergency) surgery to remove all or part of the thyroid gland, or to remove one or more parathyroid glands
- People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part and to have tissue samples imaged
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had radiation treatment to the neck, or previous neck surgery that may have changed the normal position or structure of the parathyroid glands
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have been diagnosed with, or are suspected to have, cancer of the parathyroid gland, or thyroid cancer that requires removal of surrounding parathyroid tissue at the same time
- People who may have difficulty understanding the study procedures or attending follow-up appointments
