Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You have been officially diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) according to standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
- Your OCD symptoms are rated as severe based on a standard scoring scale called the Y-BOCS, with a total score of 25 or higher
- Your OCD has not responded well to treatment, meaning you have tried at least three different antidepressant medications (called SSRIs) plus at least two additional psychiatric medications added to help, and/or you have completed more than 12 sessions of a talking therapy called CBT alongside adequate medication, without enough improvement or because you could not tolerate the treatments
Who may not be able to join:
- You have another psychiatric condition, such as certain personality disorders or intellectual disabilities
- The trial doctor considers you to be at significant risk of suicidal behaviour
- You have a serious or unstable medical condition affecting your heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, blood, hormones, or nervous system
- You have a history of brain injury, a brain disease caused by another condition, severe epilepsy that cannot be controlled, or other significant neurological conditions
- Your physical check-up, blood tests, heart tracing (ECG), or scans during the screening process show results that the doctor considers would make it unsafe for you to take part
- You have an implanted medical device such as a cochlear implant, pacemaker, or heart defibrillator, or you have had surgery in the past six months that may affect your participation (confirm with trial site)
- You have a medical reason why you cannot have the brain surgery involved in this trial (called DBS — Deep Brain Stimulation), or the doctor considers you unfit for surgery
- You have confirmed HIV
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant within three months of starting the study; or you have a positive pregnancy test at screening; or you are unable to use effective contraception during the study
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial, or have done so within the past three months
- The trial doctor has any other reason to consider you unsuitable for the study (confirm with trial site)
