Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have given their written consent to participate
- People who are covered by social security
- (For the depressive disorder group) People who have been diagnosed by a psychiatrist with a depressive episode (including recurring or persistent forms) according to ICD-10 classification, either currently or within the past 12 months
- (For the bipolar disorder group) People who have been diagnosed by a psychiatrist with bipolar mood disorder according to ICD-10 classification, and who have had a mood episode diagnosed by a psychiatrist within the past 12 months
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to complete daily check-ins on a mobile phone app for 12 months
- People who are under a legal protection arrangement such as guardianship or curatorship
- (For the control/healthy volunteer group) People who currently have a diagnosed psychiatric condition or who are taking psychiatric medications
- (For the control/healthy volunteer group) People who have a history of depression
- (For the control/healthy volunteer group) People who have a diagnosed dependence on a substance other than tobacco
- (For the control/healthy volunteer group) People with a history of certain neurological conditions, such as stroke, coma, epilepsy, or neurological diseases affecting the brain (confirm with trial site)
- (For participants offered an MRI scan) People with certain metal implants in the body, such as a pacemaker not compatible with MRI, a heart valve implant, or other metal foreign bodies
- (For participants offered an MRI scan) People who are pregnant at the time of the MRI
