Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a history of low back pain that is mainly centred in the back (rather than coming from another part of the body)
- People whose pain stays in the lower back or spreads only partway down the upper legs
- People with a body mass index (BMI) of 27 or higher at the time of screening (BMI is a measure based on height and weight)
- People who have tried at least one diet in the past to lose weight without lasting success, by their own account
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose low back pain originates from a source other than the spine itself
- People who have had botulinum (e.g. Botox) or steroid injections into the spine within the past year
- People who have had trigger point injections into the spine within the past 6 months
- People whose body weight has changed by more than 5 kilograms (about 11 pounds) in the 90 days before screening
- People who have been taking any medications or over-the-counter products intended to reduce body weight within the 90 days before screening
- People who have previously had, or are planning to have, surgery for obesity
- People who have Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, or any other form of diabetes
