Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children who were between 3 and 6 years old at the time of joining the study
- Children who lived in one of the 11 cities affected by the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake, such as Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Malatya, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adana, Osmaniye, Diyarbakır, Kilis, or Elazığ
- Children who experienced at least one distressing event connected to the earthquake, such as seeing someone injured or killed, losing their home, or being separated from a caregiver
- Children who are living with a mother or father who agrees to take part in the study
- Families where both the child and caregiver are able to attend 12 weekly sessions, either online or in person
- Caregivers who speak Turkish fluently and are able to fill in written questionnaires
Who may not be able to join:
- Children or caregivers who are currently receiving talk therapy or psychiatric treatment
- Children who have been diagnosed with a developmental condition, such as autism or an intellectual disability, that significantly affects their ability to communicate or connect with others
- Caregivers who have been diagnosed with a serious psychiatric condition, such as psychosis or bipolar disorder, or who are currently struggling with substance use
- Families who are dealing with ongoing legal disputes over custody, or whose living situation may make it difficult to attend sessions consistently
- Families who do not have access to the internet or a suitable device, if they are placed in the online therapy group
