Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are scheduled to have gynecologic (female reproductive system) surgery at Stanford Healthcare
  • You still have your uterus and cervix intact
  • You have at least one fallopian tube and ovary on the same side that are still intact
  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You are able to understand the study information and are willing to sign a written consent form

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have been diagnosed with cancer of the uterus lining or cervix, or pre-cancerous changes in those areas
  • You have previously had both fallopian tubes removed or have had a tubal ligation (tubes tied)
  • You are not able to give your own consent to participate
  • You tested positive for pregnancy before the surgery
  • You are currently having active uterine bleeding, such as your period
  • You currently have an IUD (intrauterine device) in place
  • You do not speak English and require an interpreter
