Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have one or more new brain tumors that have shown up on a brain scan
- You have a mass (lump or growth) in your body that is suspected or confirmed to be a tumor
- If you have a lung mass that may be lung cancer and have not yet been diagnosed, you must have a biopsy of the lung mass before any brain surgery takes place
- You have no medical reasons that would make brain surgery unsafe for you
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are able to carry out basic daily activities and are up and about for more than half of your waking hours (not bedridden most of the day)
- The shift of structures in your brain is no more than 10 mm off-center on your MRI scan
- Your surgeon plans to remove more than 75% of the tumor during the operation
Who may not be able to join:
- You have brain tumors that cannot be surgically removed and any one of them is larger than 2 cm in size
- You have more than 4 brain tumors that cannot be surgically removed and are each up to 2 cm in size
- You are being treated with a laser heat therapy technique for brain tumors (called LITT)
- There is a strong suspicion that your brain tumor may be a type called primary CNS lymphoma
- You have been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer
- You have taken or received the steroid medication dexamethasone at any point
- You have used any steroid medication in the past month
- You have a medical condition that requires you to take steroids
- You have advanced kidney disease with significantly reduced kidney function (confirm with trial site)
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
