AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

The eligibility criteria provided appear to contain a formatting error — the exclusion criteria section repeats the inclusion criteria rather than listing separate exclusion criteria. I will convert what has been provided accurately, and flag where exclusion criteria should be confirmed directly with the trial site.

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older and are able to give your agreement to take part in the study
  • You have a benign (non-cancerous) thyroid nodule or goitre that is causing symptoms, discomfort, or cosmetic concern, which may or may not extend into the chest, and may or may not be causing an overactive thyroid
  • You have either a single enlarged thyroid nodule causing problems, or multiple thyroid nodules
  • Your thyroid nodule(s) have been rated as benign or only mildly suspicious on an ultrasound scan (using a standard scoring system called TIRADS, scores 1, 2, or 3)
  • A needle biopsy (a procedure where a small sample of cells is taken) has confirmed the nodule is non-cancerous, with the number of biopsies required depending on your ultrasound score (confirm with trial site)
  • Your ultrasound scan shows no enlarged or suspicious lymph nodes (glands) in your neck
  • You are willing to have a procedure to block blood supply to the thyroid nodule, after discussing all available treatment options with your specialist doctors
  • You are able to lie flat or with very slight head elevation on a medical table for at least two hours during the procedure
