  • People for whom doctors suspect bladder cancer that has grown into the muscle wall, based on a camera examination of the bladder (cystoscopy) and imaging done before that procedure.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose other health conditions mean they are not expected to live longer than 3 months.
  • People who are pregnant.
  • People who are breastfeeding.
  • People who have had chemotherapy (cancer-fighting drugs) in the last 6 weeks.
  • People who have had radiotherapy (radiation treatment) in the last 6 weeks.
  • People who have had a bladder tumour removal procedure (called a TURBt) in the last 6 weeks.

  • People who have metal implants in their body that are not safe to use with an MRI scanner.
  • People who experience severe anxiety in enclosed spaces (claustrophobia), which can make MRI scanning difficult.
