Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 70 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), including any type such as relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), secondary progressive MS (SPMS), or primary progressive MS (PPMS), based on recognised diagnostic guidelines — healthy volunteers of a similar age and sex are also being invited to take part.
- You are willing to have PET and MRI brain scans as part of the study.
- You are willing and able to give your informed consent to participate.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have another known brain or nervous system condition, a previous serious head injury, or a history of substance abuse.
- You have a known mental health condition such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
- You have other health conditions that would make it unsafe to take part in the study procedures (confirm with trial site).
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant.
- You experience severe anxiety in small or enclosed spaces (claustrophobia).
- You have a medical implant in your body that is not safe to use near an MRI machine (for example, certain pacemakers or metal implants).
- You have taken steroid (corticosteroid) medicines within the past four weeks.
