Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 50 years old at the time of joining the trial
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) — a measure of body weight relative to height — between 27 and 40
- People who had a colonoscopy (a camera examination of the bowel) within the past 9 months
- People who had at least 2 growths called adenomas (a type of bowel polyp) removed during their last colonoscopy, or a single adenoma that was 6mm or larger in size — note that certain polyp types called hyperplastic polyps do not count toward this
- People who are able to understand and are willing to sign a written consent form for the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have ever taken a class of medications known as incretin mimetics (a type of diabetes or weight management drug) (confirm with trial site)
- People with a personal history of a specific type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid cancer, or a condition called MEN 2 syndrome
- People considered at high risk of a condition called pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), or for whom the trial medication would otherwise be considered medically unsuitable
- People who have had a cancer diagnosis — other than certain non-serious skin cancers — within the last three years
- People with a history of diabetes
- People who have had surgery on their bowel
- People with an inherited condition that increases bowel cancer risk, such as Lynch syndrome, HNPCC, or familial adenomatous polyposis
- People with a history of inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, or colitis
- People whose polyp removal during their last colonoscopy was incomplete or only partial
- People who are currently pregnant; people who may become pregnant, or whose partners may become pregnant during the trial, will receive counselling about contraception, and a doctor should be informed immediately if a pregnancy occurs during the trial
