Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 40 and 70 years old
- Men, or women who have gone through menopause
- People who have been diagnosed with Stage 3 chronic kidney disease, meaning their kidneys are working at a reduced level (confirmed by a specific kidney function test result between 30–59 ml/min/1.73m²)

- People who have had a change in their heart or blood pressure medications in the last 30 days
- People with a history of significant bowel or digestive conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, uncontrolled irritable bowel syndrome, ongoing C. difficile infection, coeliac disease, diverticulitis, or stomach or duodenal ulcers
- People with a known HIV diagnosis
- People who have been hospitalised in the last two months
- People who have lost 5% or more of their body weight without trying over the past three months
- People who have had cancer or received cancer treatment in the past year (except for a type of minor skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma)
- People who have previously had weight-loss (bariatric) surgery, such as gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, or gastric band
- People who have used immune-suppressing medications in the past six months, or who have taken a steroid called prednisone at a dose above 10mg per day for more than one week in the past three months (or an equivalent dose of a similar steroid)
- People who have taken antibiotics in the past three months (even one course), or two or more courses of antibiotics in the past six months
- People with a known food allergy that would make it difficult to follow the study's required diets
- People who have had high potassium levels in their blood (above 5.5 mmol/L) on at least two separate occasions
- People with other medical conditions or concerns that the trial investigators consider relevant (confirm with trial site)
