Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 50 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) according to standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
- People whose OCD symptoms score at least 20 on a standard OCD severity scale called the Y-BOCS, indicating moderate to severe symptoms
- People who have a recorded history of trying at least two full courses of a type of antidepressant called SSRIs (such as fluoxetine or sertraline); if currently taking an SSRI, the dose must have been stable for at least 8 weeks before joining
- People who have completed at least 9 years of formal education
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have any other mental health diagnosis besides OCD (a related condition called OCPD is allowed)
- People whose OCD symptoms are so severe that completing the study assessments would not be possible
- People who have had electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), a type of brain stimulation treatment, within the past 6 months
- People who have received other types of brain stimulation treatments within the past 2 months
- People with serious physical health conditions or anything that raises the risk of seizures, such as heart or breathing conditions
- People with neurological conditions, or who have a history of brain injury or brain surgery
- People who have metal implants or devices in their body that are not safe for MRI scans, such as pacemakers, stents, or cochlear implants
- People who, in the judgement of the trial investigators, are currently at risk of suicide
- People who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study period
- People who have recently started a structured OCD talking therapy (within the past 3 months) where changes to that therapy are expected during the trial period
