Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with one of these types of muscular dystrophy: myotonic, facio-scapulo-humeral, Becker, limb-girdle, Emery-Dreifuss, or distal muscular dystrophy
- People between 16 and 65 years of age
- People who still have some ability to walk, even if only with assistance (confirmed using a standard walking ability scale)
- People who score at least 23.8 points on a memory and thinking test that is adjusted for age and education level
- For one specific part of the trial (Work Package 2): people who still have a fear of falling after 3 months, shown by a score of at least 16 on a recognised fear-of-falling questionnaire called the Falls Efficacy Scale – International (FES-I)
Who may not be able to join:
- People where there are reasons to suggest they would be unlikely to follow through with the treatment program as required
- People who are currently receiving treatment at another rehabilitation centre or are already taking part in another research study
- People who have a language barrier that would prevent participation
- People who have not signed the required consent form agreeing to take part in the research
