Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older.
- People who weigh more than 30 kg.
- People with a life expectancy of at least 12 weeks.
- People who have been diagnosed with a specific early-stage type of lung cancer called small-cell lung cancer (stages T1-T2, N0-1, M0), confirmed by laboratory testing of tissue or cell samples.
- People who have had surgery to fully remove the small-cell lung cancer within 78 days before joining the trial (surgery types include wedge resection, segmentectomy, lobectomy, sleeve lobectomy, bilobectomy, or pneumonectomy).
- People who have had a full examination and removal or sampling of lymph nodes in the chest area (called the mediastinum) during their surgery.
- People who have not previously received any systemic (whole-body) treatments for small-cell lung cancer.
- People who have received radiation therapy after surgery for small-cell lung cancer affecting nearby lymph nodes (N1 disease), if the treating doctor approved it, but no other prior radiation for small-cell lung cancer.
- People who are in good general health and able to carry out daily activities, meeting a standard health rating of 0 or 1 on a scale used by doctors (confirm with trial site).
Who may not be able to join:
- People currently taking part in another clinical trial that involves an experimental treatment.
- People enrolled in another clinical study involving experimental treatment specifically for small-cell lung cancer.
- People who have previously been treated with the drug durvalumab.
- People with a history of another cancer, with some exceptions: cancers treated with curative intent with no known active disease for at least 2 years and considered low risk for returning; certain treated skin cancers with no signs of disease; superficial bladder cancer with no active disease after treatment; low-grade prostate cancer not currently requiring active treatment; or adequately treated pre-cancerous conditions with no signs of disease.
- People who have had a stroke, a mini-stroke (transient ischemic attack), a blood clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism), or an insufficiently treated blood clot in a deep vein within the past 3 months.
- People who have coughed up more than a small amount of blood (more than 2.5 mL) in the 2 weeks before starting the study medication.
- People who need to take certain seizure medications called phenytoin, phenobarbital, or carbamazepine at the same time as the trial treatment.
