Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults over 18 years old who attend outpatient clinic visits at HTCM's peritoneal dialysis clinic
- People who have been on peritoneal dialysis (a type of kidney treatment done at home through the abdomen) for at least 6 months
- People whose blood protein (albumin) level is below 40 g/L, which can indicate nutritional concerns
- People with a body mass index (BMI) below 25, meaning their weight is in the normal or underweight range for their height
- People who have a mild, moderate, or severe score on a nutrition and inflammation assessment called the Malnutrition Inflammation Score (MIS)
- People who are willing to follow specific dietary instructions based on how they are assigned in the study
- People who are willing to attend check-up appointments at the start of the study and at 1, 3, and 6 months after joining — either in person or via telehealth — and to respond to monthly or more frequent phone calls
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been admitted to hospital within the past 3 months
- People who currently have an active infection or blood infection (sepsis)
- People who have had surgery within the past 6 months
- People who have a serious inflammatory condition, or any form of cancer or malignancy
- People whose dialysis is not working adequately, specifically where the dialysis clearance measure (Kt/V) is below 1.2 (confirm with trial site)
