Who might be able to join this trial:
- You work in a frontline healthcare role, such as emergency medical services
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You have scored within a certain range on a standard PTSD questionnaire (PCL-5 score of 33 or above but below 65), or you have been assessed as having at least partial PTSD through a structured interview called the MINI
- You are able to speak and understand English well enough to take part, as assessed during the screening process
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a neurological disorder (a condition affecting the brain or nervous system)
- You have been diagnosed with certain mental health conditions, including psychosis, an eating disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression with psychosis, or a moderate to severe alcohol or drug use problem within the past year
- You have current thoughts of suicide with a plan or intent, or you have made a suicide attempt in the last 3 months (confirm with trial site)
- You have a history of severe traumatic brain injury or skull fractures
- You have any condition or implant that makes it unsafe for you to have an MRI scan
- You are pregnant (a urine pregnancy test will be done before each MRI scan)
- You have recently changed the dose of a medication that could affect brain function — such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, or mood stabilizers — within the last 6 weeks
- You have vision or hearing problems that cannot be corrected with glasses, contacts, or hearing aids
- You have a medical condition that is not currently stable or well-controlled
- You have any structural abnormalities found in a specific area of your brain on your screening MRI scan
- The trial team judges that you may not be able to follow the study procedures for any reason (confirm with trial site)
