Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have been confirmed to have TB in your lungs through a lab test (such as a sputum smear, GeneXpert test, or culture)
- You have not been on TB treatment for more than 2 weeks at the time of joining
- You are receiving your TB care at one of the outpatient clinics involved in the TB PuRe study
- You are willing and able to attend study check-ups and evaluations for 48 weeks (about 1 year)
- You have access to a smartphone
Who may not be able to join:
- You have no shortness of breath during everyday activities — meaning breathlessness only happens during very hard physical effort (confirm with trial site)
- You have a form of TB that is resistant to multiple or many drugs (sometimes called MDR-TB or XDR-TB)
- You have TB that only affects parts of the body other than the lungs, with no lung involvement
- You have TB affecting the brain (TB meningitis) or the spine
- You have a known heart condition, such as blocked heart arteries, an irregular heartbeat, or heart failure
- Your overall health and ability to carry out daily activities is very poor, as measured by a specific health scoring tool (confirm with trial site)
- You have any medical condition that would prevent you from doing physical rehabilitation exercises, such as a broken arm or leg, or if you are pregnant
- You are currently using any inhaled or other breathing medications, such as inhalers for asthma or steroids
