Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), confirmed by a muscle biopsy or genetic test
- A special heart scan (called a cardiac MRI) has shown specific changes in your heart tissue (known as late gadolinium enhancement)
- Your heart's pumping ability is either normal or only mildly reduced (confirmed by heart scan)
- You are between 8 and 18 years old
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently taking part in another research study that could affect how your heart works
- You have an additional genetic or birth-related condition that could affect your heart or how a heart condition might progress
- You are unable to have a cardiac MRI scan for any reason (for example, due to a metal implant or severe claustrophobia)
- You are currently experiencing symptoms of heart failure (such as severe breathlessness or swelling)
- You have previously had a serious reaction to a type of diabetes medication called SGLT2 inhibitors, or a dangerous condition called ketoacidosis linked to this type of medication
- You have Type 1 diabetes
- You have kidney disease, or you have a history of frequent urinary tract infections or skin infections in the genital area
