Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old (inclusive) at the time of signing the consent form, regardless of gender.
  • You have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer (a specific type of lung cancer) that has spread locally, to other parts of the body, or has come back, confirmed by a lab test of tissue or blood showing a specific gene change (EGFR mutation).
  • You have not yet received any full-body (systemic) treatment for this advanced or returned lung cancer.
  • You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a scan, according to standard guidelines.
  • You are generally able to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (a doctor's rating of 0 or 1 on a standard activity scale).
  • Your doctors expect you to live for at least 12 weeks.
  • Your bone marrow, liver, kidneys, and other organs are functioning well enough as shown by blood tests.
  • You are willing and able to give written consent to take part in the trial.

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your lung cancer has been confirmed to also contain certain other rare cancer cell types (such as small cell lung cancer, neuroendocrine, sarcomatoid, or carcinosarcoma components).
  • You have a history of cancer spreading to the thin membranes around the brain or spinal cord, to the brainstem, or to the spinal cord.
  • You have cancer-related pain that is not well controlled.
  • You have a significant build-up of excess fluid in body cavities (such as the abdomen or chest) that is not well controlled.
  • Not enough time has passed since your last cancer treatment before starting this trial (confirm with trial site for the exact timeframe).
  • You had a major operation or serious injury within 4 weeks before starting the trial.
  • You have been diagnosed with another cancer in the last 5 years.
  • You have a history of scarring or inflammation in the lungs (interstitial lung disease), signs of it on a recent scan, or other moderate to severe lung conditions that seriously affect breathing.
  • You have serious heart or blood vessel disease, or a history of serious stroke-related conditions.
  • You have serious eye conditions that a doctor believes could put you at greater risk during the trial.
  • You have ongoing severe nausea, vomiting, or chronic digestive/gut problems.
  • You had a serious infection within 4 weeks before starting the trial.
  • You had a blood clot in an artery or vein within 6 months before starting the trial.
  • You currently have active tuberculosis (TB).
  • You have a weakened immune system, including a positive HIV test.
  • You have active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection.
  • You have previously had a stem cell transplant or an organ transplant from another person.
  • You have a known history of severe allergic reactions to the study drugs or any of their ingredients.
  • You have a known history of alcohol or drug dependence or misuse.
  • You have a psychiatric condition or are unlikely to be able to follow the trial's requirements.
