Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are older than 18 years old and have been formally diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)
- You are currently experiencing a pain crisis (a sudden episode of severe pain caused by SCD, sometimes called a vaso-occlusive crisis)
- Your pain is rated higher than 5 out of 10 on a pain scale
- You are willing to take part and sign a consent form agreeing to join the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You need a specific type of specialised fluid management through a drip, as decided by your treating doctor
- You have congestive heart failure or any form of heart failure affecting how well your heart pumps
- You have severe long-term kidney failure and are currently receiving dialysis
- You are showing signs of shock, such as very low blood pressure or signs that your body is not getting enough blood flow
- You are pregnant or there is a possibility you could be pregnant
- You have already taken part in this same trial within the past 30 days
- You are currently enrolled in another research study that involves managing your fluid intake
- A drip (IV line) cannot be successfully inserted into your vein
