Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of cystic fibrosis (CF), supported by two known CF-causing gene changes, plus either a positive sweat test result (above 60 mmol/L, taken before starting CF modulator treatment) or a clinical assessment by a senior CF doctor confirming the diagnosis
- People who are able to travel to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield for scans

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had a lung transplant
- People with a current infection caused by certain bacteria, specifically Burkholderia cepacia complex, MRSA, or Mycobacterium abscessus
- People who are currently pregnant
- People whose blood oxygen level at rest, while breathing normal air, is below 90%
- People who are unable to lie flat on their back comfortably for more than 60 minutes
- People who have any reason they cannot safely have an MRI scan, as determined by the MRI safety questionnaire used at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield
Temporary reasons a research visit may not go ahead:
- People who have had a CF chest flare-up (pulmonary exacerbation) within the past 4 weeks — meaning they have needed new treatments or had a noticeable change in symptoms or breathing test results, as judged by their attending doctor
- People who are currently pregnant — they may remain in the study, but no research visits will take place during pregnancy
