"Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older.
- People whose brain scans suggest they may have a newly diagnosed type of brain tumour called glioblastoma (GBM). (Note: if laboratory results later show a specific genetic change called an IDH mutation, those people will still be monitored for safety and quality of life, but their results will not be included in the main effectiveness comparisons.)
- People whose overall health and physical condition make surgery a suitable option for them, as determined by their medical team.
- People with a functional ability score of 70 or above on a standard medical scale called the Karnofsky Performance Scale, which measures how well a person can carry out daily activities (confirm with trial site if unsure how this applies).
- People who are able to receive the standard recommended treatment for their condition.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had a biopsy showing a brain tumour type other than IDH wild-type glioblastoma.
- People who cannot safely receive a chemotherapy drug called temozolomide (TMZ), or who cannot have MRI scans, a contrast dye called gadolinium, or CT scans without contrast dye, due to medical reasons.
- People whose tumour appears in multiple separate areas of the brain that cannot all be reached and treated through a single surgical operation.
