  • People with a BMI between 30 and 38 (the obese group) or a BMI between 19 and 25 (the lean group)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have been pregnant or breastfeeding in the past six months

  • People who have had surgery for obesity
  • People whose body weight has changed by more than 5% in the past six months (based on self-reported information)
  • People with certain conditions known to affect how the body processes insulin or fats — such as polycystic ovary syndrome — or who have a history of galactosemia, hereditary fructose intolerance, or who test positive for difficulty absorbing fructose at the screening stage
  • People with a known intolerance to acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol)
