Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have previously been diagnosed with cancer of the oropharynx (the middle part of the throat, including the back of the mouth and base of the tongue) — all cancer cell types are accepted
- People who completed curative treatment using radiation therapy (with or without chemotherapy) at the primary cancer site, at a dose of at least 68Gy, no more than 1 year before joining the study
- People who are over 18 years of age
- People who are able to provide written, informed consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant
- People who have had surgery or Botox injections in the head or neck area
- People who have a deep local infection in the head or neck region, such as a suspected abscess, at the time measurements are scheduled to take place
- People who are already doing daily Self Manual Lymphatic Drainage (a type of self-massage technique) as part of their regular treatment
- People who are already receiving other treatments for head and neck lymphedema (fluid swelling in the head and neck), such as compression therapy
- People who have a psychiatric disorder
- People who have substance abuse problems
