Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have advanced or metastatic stomach cancer, cancer at the junction between the stomach and oesophagus, or cancer in the lower oesophagus, confirmed through a tissue or cell sample, and who have not yet received any systemic (whole-body) treatment for their advanced or metastatic disease.
- People who have had a test result recorded for a protein called PD-L1, which is found on some cancer cells (for one phase of the trial, any PD-L1 result is accepted; for another phase, a result of 1 or higher is required).
- People whose cancer has tested negative for a protein called HER2, based on local laboratory guidelines.
- People whose cancer can be measured using standard imaging guidelines (known as RECIST v1.1).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have cancer that has spread to the brain or spinal cord and has not yet been treated.
- People who have had a serious heart-related event — such as a heart attack, unstable chest pain, stroke, or blood clot in an artery — within the 6 months before joining, or who have blood pressure that remains very high despite treatment, or who have a specific inherited heart rhythm condition called congenital long QT syndrome.
- People who have a known major blood-clotting disorder, such as haemophilia.
- People who have had a blood clot in a deep vein or in the lungs within the 3 months before joining, unless the clot has been fully treated and/or the person has been on a stable dose of blood-thinning medication (confirm with trial site).
- People who have had a hole or abnormal opening in the stomach or intestines within 6 months before joining.
- People who have had major surgery, a surgical biopsy, or a serious injury within 28 days before joining, or for whom major surgery is expected to be needed during the trial.
