Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are scheduled to have a total robotic hysterectomy (removal of the uterus using robotic-assisted surgery), with or without removal of the ovaries or fallopian tubes, at one of the three participating hospitals
- People having this surgery for either a non-cancerous (benign) condition or for endometrial cancer (cancer of the lining of the uterus)
- People of any body weight or uterus size are considered
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are older than 75 years of age
- People who will be alone at home on the first night after surgery, with no one to stay with them
- People who have been assessed by their doctor as having a serious underlying health condition (classified as ASA class 3), unless that rating is solely due to high body weight
- People who are also having prolapse surgery (surgery to correct dropped pelvic organs) or lymph node removal at the same time
- People with severe endometriosis (a condition where tissue similar to the uterus lining grows outside it) or people who have ongoing chronic pain and already follow a special pain management plan after surgery
