Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are an adult aged 18 or over (male or female)
- You have been diagnosed with fatty liver, confirmed by an ultrasound scan of your upper abdomen
Who may not be able to join:
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who drink more than a certain amount of alcohol on average each day (more than 30g per day for men, or more than 20g per day for women — confirm with trial site if unsure how this applies to you)
- People whose liver disease is caused by something other than fatty liver, such as viral hepatitis, a reaction to medication, or an autoimmune condition affecting the liver
- People who have chronic kidney disease
- People who have a condition involving overactive or underactive parathyroid glands (small glands in the neck that help control calcium levels in the body)
- People who have had an allergic reaction or sensitivity to a medication called erdosteine
