Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 12 and 18 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder using standard diagnostic guidelines, confirmed through a structured clinical interview
- People who are currently experiencing a moderate or severe depressive episode, based on specific symptom rating scale scores (confirm with trial site)
- People who have been on a stable psychiatric medication routine before joining the trial and are willing to stay on that same routine during the treatment phase

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have received brain stimulation therapies (such as rTMS, tDCS, or electroconvulsive therapy) or formal psychological therapy within the 6 months before screening
- People who have been diagnosed with another mental health condition or personality disorder alongside bipolar disorder
- People assessed by a clinician as being at serious risk of suicide
- People with diabetes, high blood pressure, vascular or infectious diseases, or other significant medical conditions
- People with unstable medical conditions, such as severe asthma
- People with neurological conditions, including a history of head injury with loss of consciousness for 5 minutes or more, stroke-related conditions, brain tumours, or degenerative brain diseases
- People with an intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder
- People for whom an MRI scan would not be safe, for example due to severe claustrophobia, a pacemaker, or metal implants in the body
- People for whom the brain stimulation treatment (tDCS) would not be safe, for example due to metal in the head, a history of seizures, or a known brain lesion (confirm with trial site)
- People who are currently misusing or dependent on drugs or alcohol
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
