Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You have experienced a traumatic event at some point in your life
- You have symptoms of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)
- You have either early-stage or diagnosed heart or blood vessel disease (such as a history of heart attack or blockages found on scans), or you have more than two of the following risk factors: high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, or currently smoking
- You are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had a stroke, brain surgery, or seizures in the past
- You currently take certain heart medications, such as specific cholesterol-lowering drugs (high-dose statins like rosuvastatin 20/40 mg or atorvastatin 40/80 mg), PCSK-9 inhibitors, or beta-blockers
- Your psychiatric or heart-related medications have changed within the last 4 weeks (a stable medication routine is generally acceptable)
- You have unstable blood pressure or an irregular heartbeat that is not under control
- You are currently taking part in a structured or supervised exercise program
- You have a neurological condition or an inflammatory disease, or you take anti-inflammatory medications regularly
- You have moderate or severe problems with alcohol or drug use
- You are currently experiencing mania or psychosis
- You weigh more than 300 lbs
- You have claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces)
- You are currently pregnant
- You have metal implants in your body
- Your blood sugar levels are not well controlled (confirm with trial site)
- You have had significant radiation exposure through research-related scans or procedures (more than 2 nuclear tests, CT scans, or similar procedures) in the past 12 months
