  • People who have been on hemodialysis (a kidney filtering treatment) for more than 3 months.
  • People who do not currently take part in regular exercise outside of their dialysis sessions.

  • People with serious circulation problems in the blood vessels of the lower legs (classified as stage III or IV).
  • People who have had a limb amputated.
  • People with joint, muscle, or bone conditions that make exercise difficult or unsafe.
  • People who have a pacemaker, cardiac stimulation device, or an implantable heart device that controls heart rhythm.
  • People who have had a heart transplant.
  • People with high blood pressure that is not well controlled.
  • People with severe anemia (very low red blood cell levels) that has not responded to treatment.
  • People considered to be at high risk of blood clots forming in the deep veins.
