Who might be able to join this trial:
This trial has several different groups (cohorts). You may qualify for one of the following:
Group 1 – People at high risk for pancreatic cancer (having a routine surveillance ultrasound):
- You are already enrolled in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Pancreatic Registry program
- You do not have pancreatic cancer yourself, but have a family history that puts you at higher risk
- You are at least 10 years younger than the youngest family member diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
- You are at least 50 years old (general requirement), OR at least 40 years old if you have been diagnosed with FAMMM syndrome or Hereditary Pancreatitis, OR at least 35 years old if you have been diagnosed with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome
- You are not pregnant and not breastfeeding
- You agree to be contacted for follow-up
- You meet at least one of these four family/genetic conditions:
- You have at least two relatives who had pancreatic cancer, where at least one is closely related to each other and at least one is a close (first-degree) relative of yours; OR you have at least two close (first-degree) relatives on the same side of the family with pancreatic cancer
- You have at least one close or moderately close relative with pancreatic cancer AND genetic testing has found a significant gene change in one of several specific genes (such as BRCA1, APC, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2, EPCAM, PALB2, TP53, or others at the trial team's discretion)
- Genetic testing has found a significant gene change in one of several other specific genes linked to cancer risk (such as CDKN2A/p16, STK11, PRSS1, SPINK1, CTRC, CPA1, ATM, BRCA2, or others at the trial team's discretion)
- You are a relative aged 21 or older with other high-risk factors that the lead doctor determines warrant pancreatic cancer monitoring (confirm with trial site)
Group 2 – People diagnosed with pancreatic cancer:
- You have been diagnosed with a specific type of pancreatic cancer called pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
- You are already scheduled to have an ultrasound-guided biopsy of your pancreas as part of your normal care
- You are not pregnant and not breastfeeding
Group 3 – People with a thyroid nodule:
- You have a thyroid nodule and are already scheduled to have an ultrasound-guided biopsy of it as part of your normal care (you may or may not have a known cancer diagnosis)
- You are not pregnant and not breastfeeding
Healthy Volunteers:
- You have no known cancer diagnosis and no known thyroid nodules
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are able to understand and sign a consent form
- You are not pregnant and not breastfeeding
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unable to sign a consent form for medical or any other reason
- You live outside the continental United States
- You are under 18 years of age (applies to Groups 2 and 3)
