Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with long COVID according to the World Health Organization's definition.
  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You experience severe fatigue, measured by reaching a certain score on a standard fatigue checklist (confirm with trial site for exact score).
  • You have significant problems with concentration or thinking clearly, measured by reaching a certain score on a standard checklist (confirm with trial site for exact score).
  • You are willing and able to actively take part in the treatment sessions (called rTMS).
  • You are able to travel to the study site regularly for your appointments.
  • You are able to read, understand, and sign a consent form agreeing to take part.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have already had rTMS treatment before, or you are currently receiving another intensive or experimental treatment for long COVID.
  • You have a personal history of epilepsy, or a parent, sibling, or child has epilepsy.
  • You recently started or changed the dose of certain medications affecting mood or mental health (such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, or anxiety medications) and not enough time has passed since the change (confirm with trial site for exact timeframes).
  • You are currently taking other medications specifically to treat your long COVID symptoms.
  • You have a reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan, such as having metal implants that cannot be removed or severe fear of enclosed spaces.
  • You have a cochlear implant (a device surgically placed to help with hearing).
  • You have a neurological condition such as multiple sclerosis or another condition affecting the brain or nervous system.
  • You are pregnant.
  • You have known damage or scarring in your brain that could affect the risk of seizures.
  • You have severe migraines that are not well controlled.
  • You have serious heart or blood vessel disease.
  • You have raised pressure inside your skull (confirm with trial site).
  • You drink a high amount of alcohol each week (above certain limits for men and women) or use drugs known to increase seizure risk.
  • You are severely sleep deprived at the time you would be starting treatment.
