Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older and have agreed to take part by signing a consent form.
  • You are able and willing to attend all the follow-up appointments planned as part of the trial.
  • You have been confirmed by a doctor (through a biopsy or similar test) to have a cancerous spot in your lung, whether it started there or spread from somewhere else.
  • The lung spot being treated is no larger than 20mm (about the size of a small grape) at its widest point.
  • There is at least 5mm of clear, healthy lung tissue between the target spot and the outer lining or divisions of the lung (confirm with trial site).
  • A medical team or board at the hospital has decided that a lung ablation procedure (a treatment that destroys the tumour using heat or cold) is the right option for you.
  • You are not suitable for surgery, or you have chosen not to have surgery.

Who may not be able to join:

  • The target spot is touching or very close to major airways, large blood vessels, the heart, the food pipe (oesophagus), or the windpipe (trachea).
  • You are very short of breath or rely on oxygen at home.
  • You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
  • You have a blood clotting problem that cannot be corrected with treatment.
  • You have previously had a full lung removed (pneumonectomy).
  • You have had radiation therapy, lung ablation, or surgery to the area being treated within the last 30 days, or you plan to have such treatments on the same side of the lung before your 30-day follow-up check is completed.
  • You have an implanted electronic device in your body, such as a pacemaker.
  • You have been diagnosed with high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) above a certain level (confirm with trial site).
  • You currently have an active lung infection at the time of screening or the procedure.
  • You are unable to safely stop blood-thinning medications (anticoagulants or anti-platelet drugs) around the time of the procedure.
  • You are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving an experimental drug or device that could affect this study, or have done so within the last 30 days.
  • The doctor running the trial believes that joining could put your health or safety at risk.
