  • People who are about to receive a kidney transplant, or who received one within the past 2 weeks before the screening date

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with serious other health conditions that the transplant surgeon considers would make participation unsafe
  • People who are pregnant (one of the study medications, valganciclovir, is likely to cause harm to an unborn baby)
  • People who are known to be allergic to both valacyclovir and valganciclovir
