Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) for at least 3 months before the study starts, and who meet a standard set of classification criteria for PsA at the screening visit
- People with active PsA, meaning at least 3 swollen joints and at least 3 tender joints (checked at two separate visits), along with a blood marker of inflammation (CRP) above a certain level
- People whose PsA falls into at least one of these patterns: involvement of the finger or toe joints closest to the nails, arthritis in many joints without certain lumps under the skin, uneven joint involvement on different sides of the body, or spine involvement alongside joint inflammation
- People who have active plaque psoriasis, shown by at least one psoriasis patch of 2 centimetres or larger, or nail changes typical of psoriasis
- Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy blood test at the screening visit and a negative pregnancy urine test at the first study visit before receiving any study treatment
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a non-plaque form of psoriasis, such as the type that causes widespread redness, small drop-shaped patches, or pus-filled spots
- People who have, or have a history of, serious, worsening, or poorly controlled conditions affecting the kidneys, liver, heart, blood vessels, lungs, digestive system, hormones, nervous system, blood, joints (other than PsA), mental health, urinary system, or metabolism
- People who are known or suspected to be allergic or sensitive to the study drug (JNJ-88545223) or any of its ingredients, or who have had a severe allergic reaction, severe swelling, or anaphylaxis to any medication or food in the past
- People who have fibromyalgia or osteoarthritis symptoms that, in the opinion of the study doctor, could make it difficult to accurately measure how well the treatment is working
- People who currently have cancer, or who have had cancer within the 5 years before the screening visit
